5th Regional CyberSecurity summit

The sultanate, represented by the Information Technology Authority (ITA) participates in the 5th Regional CyberSecurity Summit which started today morning, Sunday 30th October 2016, in Sharm ElSheikh, Egypt. This summit which is organized by the Arab Regional Cyber Security Center at the International Telecom Union (ITU) comes under the theme “boundless collaboration, boundless protection” and is hosted by National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) from 30th Oct – 1st Nov 2016, attracting over 300 plus CISO’s senior ICT and cyber security officials from the MENA region.

The 5th Regional Cyber Security Summit aims at Creating shared learning and dialogue regarding cybersecurity challenges and issues, Facilitating the exchange of information, ideas, solutions, and emerging practices that could improve cybersecurity posture as well as Identifying current priority areas in cybersecurity at the local, regional and international levels. It also seeks to enhance Cross border collaboration with government, industry and critical infrastructure stakeholders that will impact regional and international preparedness.

The summit’s agenda will discuss the future expected threats and measures as well as enhancing the cooperation between MENA regions to recognized and resolve these issues rather than only protecting their assets with the latest technologies. Furthermore, it seeks to introduce the strategic directions and plans to tackle emerging threats to the global and regional information security sector.

It is worth mentioning that The ITU Arab Cybersecurity Centre has been set up by the International Telecom Union (ITU) and the sultanate, represented by ITA’s OCERT to build and strengthen regional collaboration in cybersecurity issues as well as increase regional information sharing and strengthen the regional cybersecurity posture and increase the number of cybersecurity initiatives and projects within the region. It also works on localizing ITU-IMPACT’s cybersecurity services to better fit the regional needs and requirements as well as language and cultural requirements.the Arab Regional CyberSecurity Centre is hosted, managed and operated by OCERT at ITA.
