MTC Honors Winners of Cyber Stars Competition

With the participation of more than 300 contestants, MTC honored the winners of the 4th edition of “Cyber Stars” Competition, under the auspices of H.E Eng. Azza bint Suleiman Al Ismaili, the Minister of Technology and Communications.


The competition, which was jointly organized by the Ministry and Silensec Company at the end of last July, aimed to develop the skills of national talents in cybersecurity and enhance their ability to compete at the regional and international levels.


This year the competition addressed the cyber challenges during “Covid-19 pandemic" and focused on a number of cybersecurity aspects such as ethical hacking, protection of information and communication technology infrastructure systems, malware analysis and digital evidence analysis.


The contestants were divided into two categories: the age group from 17-24 years, and the winners of this category are: Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Kalbani, came in the first place, Yasser bin Khalid Al Siyabi, in the second place and Rashid bin Hilal Al Abri in the third place. In the age group 24 years and above, Salim bin Darwish Al Muqbali got the first place, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Balushi, won the second place and the third place went for Salim bin Ali Al Badi. The winners will represent the Sultanate at the threat hunter competition at the regional level, to be organized by the Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center and Silensec next September.


About ARCC

The ITU-Arab Regional Cybersecurity Center (ITU-ARCC) was launched in December 2012 by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the Sultanate represented by the MTC. The Center provides assistance for Arab countries to establish national cyber security centers and help them gain international recognition, and give them the opportunity to benefit from the services provided by the Regional Center, in cooperation with ITU.
